Ideas that died...for now.


Please, allow me to introduce to you the Sukhoi Su-47.



This is a prime example of thinking outside the box. The forward-swept wing design has been abandoned for mass production fighter jets because of the cost of the composite materials needed to prevent the wings from twisting off!!! Although I am sure that there will be a renaissance of this design as meta materials become cheaper and more commonly used. The main benefit of the forward-swept wing design is the incredible maneuverability.
